Hanna Meuter

The assignment for this project was to develop a website for Clemens Pfeffer not only to inform a broader, interested audience about Hanna Meuter, but also to present his research as an historian.

If one considers Hanna Meuter’s biography, it is almost incomprehensible that she is unknown to the general public, especially in German speaking regions. Her lifetime covers the first two-thirds of the twentieth century and is impressive, to say the least. As a pacifist she lived through two World Wars. As a scientist she was one of the grounding figures of sociology in the German speaking countries. She was a feminist, who’s career was hindered by a patriarchal society. She made herself heard as a anti-fascist and anti-colonialist activist. And to top it of, she was also a writer.
